What are complementary colors for purple?

My walls are painted kind of a lavender color. The closet doors are white and my window has a white curtain. I have a light brown wooden bed. What other colors could complement all of this? Should i put in white furniture like a bookcase (im planning on putting in a bookcase, by the way)? white shelves or light brown shelves? HELP PLEASE!!
