How would you dress if your going to the islands?

My best friend is from an island called Kiribati and we plan on visiting the places she grew up and the place i grew up (saudia Arabia). She said that its a really hot place and humid I would like to know how to dress modestly but considering the conditions. And can i wear a bikini if its only her mom, her and I??
