Is this many piercings too much?

I'm 19 years old and already have my ears double pierced and am planning to get my cartilage (specifically my helix) pierced soon. I'm a Christian and like to hear my dad's opinion on certain things (such as piercings and tattoos). When I asked him what he thought about me getting my cartilage pierced, he said he didn't like the idea that I would have too many piercings and that it's not necessary. Well neither was my first ear piercing, nor my second ear piercing but I got them done anyways. Can someone please help me figure out what he see's so wrong with me getting a cartilage piercing? It's not like I'm going to get my eyebrow or lip pierced or anything crazy and I dress fairly stylish but still modestly (i.e. don't show my clevage or my underwear).
